Kaitlin + Shawn | Raleigh, NC
When I initially meet ever couple I explain to them, that over the years of wedding photography, I have learned that most weddings will have a first kiss, first dance and you will probably cut a cake at some point in the night, but more importantly than all of that, every couple will inevitably bring something very unique to the day that makes it worth capturing. While weddings have many similarities between the timing and tradition, it's not the similarities that we focus on, but the minute differences. Those little—and sometimes large—differences are what I live to capture! I had the privilege of meeting Kaitlin and Shawn in California for their engagement photos and from that point on, I knew that this couple would be a pleasure to photograph. Their wedding day had many touches that were unique to them like getting married at an art museum, wearing a headband, letting your wedding party wear whatever they want, or ugly crying without a care in the world as to what it does to your makeup. And as though all of that was not good enough, I got the sense that Kaitlin & Shawn genuinely liked each other, especially on their wedding day. Whether the camera was pointed at them or not, you would find them exchanging soft, caring glances, kisses, or a subtle brush of a hand on a lower back as to say, "I know it's crazy today...but I'm here because of you, and you alone." Oh, and never once did I feel like anything but a guest; not a vendor, but a guest. Thank You Kaitlin and Shawn for allowing me to join you on such a special day!
